What We Believe

"What comes into our minds when we think about God is the most important thing about us." - A.W. Tozer

Core Beliefs

The following are the core beliefs of Sadieville Christian Church based on the foundational truths taught in the bible. All of our teaching and ministry is rooted in and flows out of these biblical doctrines.

There is one eternally existing God who has three distinct persons: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. He is the creator of all that exists, both visible and invisible, and is therefore worthy of all glory and praise.  God is perfect in love, power, holiness, goodness, knowledge, wisdom,  justice, and mercy. He is unchangeable and therefore is the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow.

The Bible

We believe the Bible is the final authority for all matters of faith and practice and is without error.
(Isaiah 40:8; Matthew 5:18, 24:35; Romans 15:4; Hebrews 4:12)

We believe that baptism is something Jesus mandated and to be done after someone has surrendered their life to Him. We practice baptism by immersion as this is the method by which Jesus was baptized as well as how His followers and the New Testament church practiced baptism. Baptism is our natural response of faith and obedience when we choose to surrender our lives to Jesus. We do not practice infant sprinkling as baptism in the New Testament is always given to individuals who are old enough to acknowledge their desire to be baptized and have a recognition of sin.
(Matthew 3:11; Acts 2:38-41; Romans 6:3-7; Galatians 3:26-27; Colossians 2:12; I Peter 3:21-22)

Communion (The Lord’s Supper)

We believe in partaking of communion (The Lord’s Supper) each week to remember Christ’s death upon the cross and celebrate His resurrection.  (Matthew 26:17-30; Acts 20:7; 1 Corinthians 11:23-26)

Christian Living

We believe no commandment of Christ is optional and that followers of Jesus (known as His “disciples”) should strive to live their lives as an act of worship to God. This lifestyle encompasses every aspect of the believer’s life including worshiping God, both privately and corporately, giving of one’s talents in ministry, financial stewardship, and seeking to tell others about Jesus. As Christians, we have a responsibility and privilege to proclaim the message of
God’s love so that anyone who accepts Jesus as their Savior and becomes His disciple may spend eternity with Him.
(Malachi 3:8-10, Matthew 6:4, Matthew 28:19-20; John 4:24,
Romans 12:4; Hebrews 10:25-27)

Christ’s Return

We believe Jesus will return to earth to judge both the living and the dead, and to take those who have been forgiven and redeemed with Him to heaven. (Matthew 24:36-42; John 14:1-3; Acts 1:10-11, 10:39-42; 1 Peter 4:5)
